Kallur, Khammam

Kallur, situated at the focal point of the Khammam District, is eminent for its 400 year old history. The Lord Venu Gopala Swamy sanctuary, developed by Queen Rudrama Devi, is one of the significant Hindu journey destinations of the area. This area was at one time the taluka base camp of the Qutub Shahis. The antiquated Shiva sanctuary at this site was worked by Prathapa Rudra, a Kakatiya lord. Five Shivalingas are arranged in the inward sanctum of this sanctuary. Before adoring the god, lovers scrub down at the tank arranged inside the sanctuary premises.
