Jawahar Planetarium

The Jawahar Planetarium is situated in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh which is commonly known as the Allahabad Planetarium. The planetarium is named after the first prime minster of India and inaugurated in 1979. It was built to promote scientific thought among the masses. The location of the planetarium is right next to the Annand Bhavan.

A visit to the planetarium takes one on a celestial journey, perhaps like a trip into outer space and leaves one completely mesmerized. The planetarium offers activities aiming to make children proactive toward science. The most fun activity it organized for children and adults like the section where one can measure their weight on the moon and Jupiter by standing on the modular.

On the educational front, regular lecture series are conducted for the children above the age of 5, influencing the young mind and inclining their life to advancement and knowledge. The lectures mainly cover the topics as varied as space and astronomy and also technological development and history. Each year the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial lecture is held at the location under the auspices of Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund on the birth anniversary of India’s first prime minister, November 14.
