About Haripad Sree Subrahmanya Swamy temple
The Sree Subrahmanya Swamy sanctuary in Haripad is one of the most seasoned sanctuaries in Kerala. This sanctuary devoted to Subrahmanya Swamy is known as Dakshina Palani Southern Palani. It is trusted that the sanctuary was built up even before the coming of Kaliyuga. The directing divinity of the sanctuary is Murugan in four outfitted frame with Vel in one hand, Vajrayudha in another hand one hand giving gift and the other toughing its thighs. The symbol is around eight feet in stature. The symbol is accepted to have nearness of Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma.
The sanctuary has four Gopuras. It has brilliant banner pole on eastern side. The sanctuary's Sanctum sanctorum is round fit as a fiddle. The sanctuary compound likewise has a Koothambalam. Peacocks, Murugan's vahana, are secured and housed in the sanctuary premises. It is trusted that the icon has been utilized by Parasurama for Poojas and was left in Kandanalloor in Govindamuttom Backwaters from which it was recouped. It is said that every one of the landowners of Eakachakra the then Haripad had vision with respect to the icon in the sametime which drove them to discover the symbol in Kayamkulam lake.
