Hajo

Hajo is a beautiful ancient town, situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. It is of some historical and religious importance. The town is a pilgrimage center for three religions: Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims.

The town is dotted with a number of ancient temples, such as the Hayagriva Madhava Temple, Kedareswara Temple, and Madan Kamdev Temple. The Hayagriva Madhava Temple is perched on the Monikut Hill. The Hajo Powa Mecca is a popular Muslim pilgrimage center. The mosque is known as Poa Mecca which means one-fourth of Mecca. The shrine is said to contain some of the sanctity of the shrine at Mecca.
