About Great Buddha Statue
This statue of Lord Buddha is the tallest in India and was instated by the XIV Dalai Lama in 1989. It is a meditating Buddha resting on a giant lotus, constructed using intricately carved sandstone and red granite.
The gorgeous idol stands tall at a height of 80 ft and is made of sandstone blocks and red granite. It has a spiritual aura that attracts many visitors every year. The statue was inaugurated on November 18, 1989 by the XIVth Dalai Lama. This huge figurine depicts Lord Buddha meditating (dhyana mudra) while he is seated on a giant lotus in open air.
