Gita Press

The Gita Press is one of largest publishers of Hindu religious texts in the world, situated in Gorakhpur. It was founded by Jaya Dayal Goyandka in 1932 with the motive of promoting the principles of Sanatana Dharma. The lifetime editor of this press was Hanuman Prasad Poddar and the first publication of this press was in 1927.

The archives of this press contain over 3500 manuscripts, which comprises over 100 interpretations of the Gita. Since its establishment, the Gita Press has published 63.4 million copies of ‘Gita’ along with 64.9 million copies of ‘Ramcharitmanas’.

The press also has an art gallery with over 684 paintings, which display the ‘lilas’ of Shri Rama and Shri Krishna. It also has the 700 verses of Bhagvad Gita displayed on marble plaques of its walls.
