About Gateway of India

This splendid architecture which reminisces the Indo-Saracenic style is located in Mumbai. This gate is located opposite to the famous Taj Mahal Palace and Tower hotel. It is said that this monument was constructed commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary. The King and the Queen landed at the Apollo Bunder for a visit to India in the year of 1911.

It is said that the foundation stone was laid out in the year 1911. Made of basalt, this structure is of 26 meters in height.

After many years, this structure was finally completed in the year 1924. The main ingredients use for the construction of this wonder is yellow basalt and solid concrete. This is one of the most sought after places of Mumbai. Many people from far and wide come here just to see this structure in person. This is the city’s top tourists attraction.
