About Enchey Monastery

This place is located in Gangtok- the capital of Sikkim. Established in the year of 1909, this place belonged to NyingmaBuddhism. Most of the places/monasteries which are found in Sikkim are Buddhist related as a majority of the people follows Buddhism. Coming to the meaning of this monastery, this monastery is popularly called as Solitary Monastery.

It is said that Khangchendzonga and Yabdeant proctect this monastery by residing in them. Many of them in Sikkim believe that the deities which are present in the temple fulfill people’s wishes. Coming to the architectural style, this is a typical Chinese Pagoda. The way that this Monastery is made is just amazing and different, pictures of gods and goddesses are housed in this structure. This is one of the unique places which is a must visit in Sikkim.
