About Emerald Lake

This place is located in the upper region of the Sigur plateau(a part of Nilgiri hills) in Tamil Nadu. A spot for Ornithologist, this place is a haven for many birds. Silently located at around 25 kms from the main city of Ooty, this lake is well-known as the picnic spot and bird watcher’s paradise.

There are various indigenous flora and fauna found at this place. Apart from providing a scenic sunrise and sunset views, this lake is quite well known for the various species and varieties of fishes and other aquatic life in general. One can buy many fresh tea products from the surrounding areas as it has tea plantations.

As said before this place is well known as the paradise for birds as many birds visit this place. This is the perfect place for the bird watching recreational activity. One can even spend some time at the tea plantations as the areas give out beautiful smell of tea leaves, which rapidly calms down your mind and soul.
