About Dum Duma
Dum Duma is a city with a region in Barrackpore subdivision of North 24 Parganas region in the territory of West Bengal. It is a piece of Kolkata Urban Agglomeration. During the nineteenth century the region was home to the Dum Arsenal, a British Royal Artillery ordnance, where, in the mid 1890s, Captain Neville Bertie-Clay built up a slug with the coat remove at the tip to uncover its delicate lead center, referred to casually as a dum-dum, or all the more accurately as an extending projectile. The past name of Dumdum was "Domdoma". Dum Duma was meagerly populated before the British came. The zone was somewhat lifted.
On 6 February 1757, an agreement was marked at Dum by the Nawab of Bengal to enable the British to fabricate fortifications at Calcutta, Dacca and Kashim Bazar. In 1783 a cantonment was set up at Dum. Military garisson huts were manufactured and regular folks began coming in to give fundamental administrations to the military work force. A Cantonment Board was shaped to give community luxuries. The weapons manufacturing plant was set up at Dum in 1846. It might be noticed that both North Dumdum district and South Dumdum region were built up in 1870 in this way to some degree characterizing officially the diverse parts of a prior vague Dum "region".
