Dera Bassi

Dera Bassi is a satellite city of Chandigarh and a city board in Mohali locale in the territory of Punjab, India. Dera Bassi is situated on the Chandigarh – Delhi National Highway, 8 km from Chandigarh. It is situated inside 10km from Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. It is deliberately situated close to the limit of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Union region of Chandigarh. Derabassi is most celebrated for its mechanical belt, arranged generally on Ramgarh and Barwala Road.

The close-by sub town of Lalru was at one time a renowned market for red stew powder. The city and the close-by region have eight building schools, B. Ed., paramedical and administration foundations. The Dera Bassi town was shaped from the early Kalsia State, whose central command were at Chhachhrauli. There was a major stronghold of Mughal time situated at edges of Dera Bassi. The fortress still exists, though as a destroy. It was utilized as visitor house by Kalsia rulers.

In 1922, Ravi Sher Singh visited Dera Bassi after his vital as the ruler of Kalsai state. Prior the town was under Patiala area, from that point it has turned into a piece of recently made Mohali locale. In town named Makandpur in Dera Bassi, there is a sacred place called as "Kethlo Tirath" Kamlon Thirth. There is Kunti Kund Saro Pond, Temple of Pandavas with Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva. It is accepted by whom that the Pandavas remained at this place when they effectively got away from Lakshagraha.
