A small little town in Nilgiri hills, it is known for tea plantations, gardens and flowers. It is less commercialized than Ooty and offers unexplored and raw beauty to the tourists. Experience serenity at Tiger hill cemetery- This 19th century British era cemetery is a must go for nature and history lovers. A lot of foreign tourists visit this cemetery as they ancestors are buried here. It is surrounded by beautiful tall fir trees and has a peaceful vibe.
Get a glimpse of history at All Saint’s church- This church was constructed in 1861 and is probably the most well maintained church in India. This old church is located near gateway hotel and attracts tourists who are looking to spend a quiet and serene afternoon.
Hike your way to Droog fort- also known as Bakasura Malai, this fort is located around 15 km from Coonoor and was also used by Tipu Sultan. Tourists find their way to the fort by a hike trail passing through Nonsuch tea estate.
Ride onto the Heritage train- Hop onto the heritage train going from Coonoor to Ooty and experience the raw beauty of Nilgiri Hills. You will get to see tea gardens, chocolate factories and mountains. Your trip to Coonoor will not be complete without taking this train journey.
Lamb rock- One of the most visited tourist spot, this spot is located on the slopes of Nilgiri Hills and gives a bird’s eye breathtaking view of Coimbatore plains, Burliyar ravine and tea and coffee estates.
Dolphin’s nose- one of the most mesmerizing places to see when in Coonoor, this rock is located 1000ft above the sea level and is known for its unique shape which is in the form of a dolphin’s nose. From the top of the rock, one can enjoy a beautiful view of Catherine falls.
Laws falls- located around 10kms from coonoor and 25 kms from ooty, these falls are found in the lap of nature. These falls get their name from Col. Law who constructed the coonoor ghat. Due to its beauty and easy access from the main road, this picnic spot is visited by tourists especially during the monsoon season.
Sims park-one of the major attraction for tourists, this botanical garden is spread around 12 hectare and was developed in year 1874.this park is ideal for nature lovers and is home to trees like Rudrakh and cinnamon and is a must visit especially during the month of October when the natural beauty is at its peak.

The small town of coonoor has a lot to offer when it comes to food. There are a lot of options to try from north India, south Indian and authentic delicacies.
