About Buddhist Monastery

The Sangla Buddhist monastery is situated in Brelengi near Reckong Peo. It is also known as Brelengi Gompa. Founded in 1992 by the Mahabodhi society to provide assistance to Dalai Lama in performing the Kalchakra ceremony, it is one of the best and peaceful places to visit in Sangla.

The monastery is a representation of the modern Buddhist edifice. There is a 10 meter high, majestic statue of Lord Buddha near the monastery. The Sangla Valley is known to have a Buddhist influence and so, monasteries are visited by a large number of tourists too. The wooden walls and roof are intricately designed and is a treat to the eyes of those who love Tibetan culture.
