About Birla Temple or Laxminarayan Temple, New Delhi
The Laxminarayan Temple is situated on Mandir Marg near Connaught Place in New Delhi, India. It is a Hindu temple thoroughly dedicated to the goddess of wealth deity Lakshmi, and her consort Lord Vishnu or Narayana. The temple is an age-old composition inaugurated by the great leader Mahatma Gandhi. The shrine also well preserves the idols of other important gods from Hindu mythology such as Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna and Lord Buddha. Birla Temple is an important landmark of Delhi, set up by Mr. B. R. Birla of Birla Group of Industries, on whose name the name of the temple is actually kept and Jugal Kishore Birla from 1933 to 1939. Talking about the overall area of this revered place of worship, we get to hear that it is extended over 7.5 acres, is beautified with fountains, a large garden, small shrines and Geeta Bhawan for discourses to catch your eye sight. Followers of Hindu mythology do come here often to get complete insight of HIndu mythology and therefore educate themselves about the same. Diwali and Janmashtami are the special occasions when the grounds of the temple are jam-packed with ardent devotees who come here to feel blessed by the lords that are prayed here. Birla Mandir is in the reach of everyone. You can use local transport including city's Metro to come here. Talking about its structural designing, you may realize that its layout is inspired from the Orissan style that makes it look exotic for your eye balls. Moreover, Jali work sculptures, tall spires, and rear decorated with a mountainous landscape with fountains and waterfalls undoubtedly enhance the aesthetic beauty of the temple complex. Birla's Laxminarayan is an architectural success in modern India where spirituality remains for ever and the life-spring of devotion continues to flow with the heavenly passion to sanitize your soul. Staying here is never a problem as the temple authorities have made comfy arrangements of guest house for the outsiders especially for international scholars pursuing information and knowledge in Hindu or Sanskrit religion. Nevertheless, the doors of Laxminarayan Temple is open for pilgrims of all caste & religion. So, how can you afford to miss out on this site during your Delhi tour ?
