About Bhokardan
Bhokardan is a city and a metropolitan committee in Jalna locale in the province of Maharashtra, India. As indicated by legends, the name Bhokardan is gotten from the name of ruler Bhogdhan or Bhagdnath, who administered this city in old time. Neighborhood legends view this as a capital of Bhoumasura, a fanciful evil presence, who was slaughtered by Hindu god Shri Krishna.
Bhokardan is arranged on bank of Kelana waterway. Bhokardan has been recognized by the cutting edge history specialists with the antiquated city of Bhogadhana. One of the most punctual references of Bhokardan is found in Markandeya Purana, where it is depicted as a prosperous exchanging city in Dandakaranya territory, situated on the exchange course from Ujjayini, in focal India to Prathishthana, at that point capital city of Satavahanas.
Bhokardan was a piece of Hyderabad State until its addition into the Indian Union in 1948. In 1960, it turned into a piece of recently shape province of Maharashtra from bilingual Bombay state. The remains of old stronghold are as yet noticeable around the city; the old fortification region currently houses the Tehsil office. The antiquities found from the site included punch-checked coins, copper coins of the Satavahanas and the Kshatrapas; a couple of earthenware bullae with legends in Greek; coin shape and seals.
