About Benreu

Benreu is a rich cultural village in the state of Nagaland. It is perched at an altitude of 1,950 meters above sea-level.

It is located in the Peren district. The village is a center for ethnic tourism. 20 per cent of the village population is animist. In Benreau, there is an attempt to preserve the endangered tribal culture of Nagaland. The surrounding forest abounds in flora and fauna. One of the local culinary specialties is the Kennie Nku Bread. It is made from sticky rice, cooked over a heated stone kiln.

one of my best holidays. would love to go back again. we climbed first peak of mount pauna,starting at 2 am to reach it before sunrise.will never forget the experience of the huge stars sparkling before sunrise, staring at us. stars were big and sparkling even in the community place we stayed in benreu. benreu itself is a very beautiful village, very clean. very very friendly villagers. the community hall we stayed is also very nice and clean amidst nature. the lady, looking after the centre to
