Bangalore Palace

This beautiful palace was first owned by Rev.J.Garrett who was the principal of Central High School of Bangalore. But later on, this palace was purchased from him by Maharaj Chamanrajendra Wadiyar X. Maharaj Wadiyar was about to take the reign in 1881AD so for the purpose of training, this palace was purchased for him. The construction started in 1874 and was completed in a duration of 4 years.

This palace has gone through many changes such as – Landscaping by Mr.Cameron, Maharaj Jayachamaraja added few new portions outside the durbar hall and on a later date, external staircases and Platform for musicians were added. This beautiful palace is spread across 454 acres.At that time this palace cost only Rs40,000.

This palace boasts of Tudor style architecture which has fortified towers and turrets. The interiors of this palace are just breathtaking especially after the renovation which took place. The Neoclassical interiors were brought by John Roberts. The overall experience that this place will give you is just amazing. This must be the first place to visit on our bucket list.
