Bakers Island is a small, non-public residential island in Massachusetts Bay, in Salem, Massachusetts. It is placed southeast of Great Misery Island & Little Misery Island, northeast of North Gooseberry Island and South Gooseberry Island, and a ways northeast of Children's Island. It is the outermost island on the principle shipping channel into Salem Harbor. Bakers Island Light, positioned at the island's northern aspect, is used for navigation. The island is pear-fashioned. Most of its coast is rocky ledges, besides for its western coast. There are three small landlocked ponds positioned close to one another on the middle.
Vegetation on the island is timber and scrub. There is a non-public pier at the west facet. Most of the buildings are focused in the western and southern portions of the island. The approximately 55-acre island become known as Bakers Island as early because the 1630s. Originally owned by means of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, it become granted to the town of Salem in 1660.
