About Aravalli Biodiversity Park

The Aravallis are among the oldest mountain ranges having evolved about 1500 million years ago, and extend from Gujarat through Rajasthan to Haryana–Delhi. The Aravalli Biodiversity Park is located on the South Central Ridge and spreads over an area of 692 acres. The area is bounded clockwise by JNU (Nelson Mandela Marg), the Mehrauli - Mahipalpur road, NH-8 and the Palam road and the southern boundary of Vasant Vihar. The landscape is undulating with gentle slopes and dotted with numerous morrum and clay mined pits of different sizes, depths and shapes. The park, contains ecologically restored desert and arid land vegetation. The park was opened to the public on World Environment Day, 5 June 2010. The park includes a number of trails and a native plant nursery and interpretive displays at the entrance.
