Aquarium

A boat ride in Bhimtal Lake to the island in the middle of it is quite a ride. But lays ahead is even more awe-inspiring. Once a place for a restaurant, today this island houses an aquarium created by the Nainital Lake Development Authority. Fishes from countries like Mexico, South Africa and China can be seen here with charming background. One can spend 20 to 30 minutes inside the aquarium. This is not so exclusive aquarium but good to enjoy the beauty of surrounding from an island within the Bhimtal lake.

Big and deep this lake is located at a distance of 22 KM from Nainital. Bhimtal lake is of 1701 meter length, 451 meter width and depth of 18 meters. It is spread across 63.25 hectares of area. Boating facility is available in this lake. Developing the aquarium took a year for lake authorities here. The aquarium consists of around 12 'aquaboxes' that contain fishes. With the introduction of a major new feature, it is hoped anyone visiting Nainital will enjoy here the most
