Anna Science Center

The Anna Science Centre, Tiruchirappalli was established by the government of Tamil Nadu and inaugurated on 10^th June 1999. The Anna Science Centre is basically a planetarium located on the national highway between Trichy and Pudukottai adjacent to the Tiruchirappalli airport.

The planetarium has an environment which exhibits theme related to ecosystems, bio-geochemical cycles, biodiversity and conservation. The Science centre has many films like Shark Island, Magic Show, Roller Coaster etc. The planetarium also inhabits “Vigyan Prasar”, an educational facility and “tri science-around the world”, a system that has details about the science centres in more than 50 countries. Recently an evolution park has been added which exhibits flora and fauna of the three major periods of evolution namely the Triassic, Jurasic and Cretaceous periods. There are total of eleven galleries of such exciting and enlightening, for example the Transport gallery traces the development of air water land transport right from its very roots. While the heart museum is on display the hearts of various species including the Shark and Elephant to help to understand the evolution of life. School and college going students are the active visitors of the planetarium.
