Amarnath Cave

Located in Jammu and Kashmir, the Amarnath Cave is a Hindu Shrine. It is located at an elevation of three thousand and eight hundred and eighty-eight meters’ height. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva which is believed to hold it more than five thousand years. The shrine symbolizes Lord Shiva into an ice stalagmite which emerges during the summer time naturally and fades away in the month of August-September, fulfilling the cycle of moon.

The place is believed to be the place where Shiva revealed his consort about the secrets of life and eternity to Goddess Parvati. Besides there lies other two ice formations of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Parvati.

Surrounded by snow caped mountain, the place is epitome to such spiritualism which intoxicates the air to its divinity. Here tourist visit the shrine on the festive occasion of Shravani Mela which is a 45-day season during the period of July to August. It takes five days to reach the destination by foot from Srinagar.
