About Heidmork

Heiðmörk is a natural reserve which is situated on the south-east edges of Reykjavík city. a magnificent recreational region with numerous trails driving through an immense territory of thick vegetation and magma developments.

A portion of the recreation center's most outstanding highlights is the Rauðhólar or 'Red Hills' – the leftovers of a group of pseudocraters in Elliðaárhraun magma field.

Heiðmörk is a most loved with local people, particularly for sports fans; those with kids and couples searching for a sentimental withdraw.

In excess of four million trees have been planted there since 1950 and the effectively existing vegetation has flourished since the territory was fenced off. The most noticeable of the 26 types of trees planted is the Sitka spruce.

Those entranced by the more padded occupants of Reykjavík will be satisfied to find that 30 types of rearing feathered creatures are as often as possible seen in the territory.
