About Vecses
Vecses is a town of 20,550 population in Budapest metropolitan region, Pest county, Hungary, situated adjoining to Budapest's Ferihegy Airport. The village become first referred to in facts in 1318. In the 14th and fifteenth centuries, the region had a dense network of villages and extant files mention it as an ecclesiastical region. In 1786 Count Antal Grassalkovich settled 50 households in Vecses, who had been particularly Swabian, and to a lesser quantity Slovakian and Hungarian inhabitants from the encompassing villages. The Swabian farmers grew cabbage and brought their Germanic subculture of sauerkraut production with them and Vecses is well-known even these days for its sauerkraut. Vecses began to expand fast after it became shaped. From the end of the 19th century, the population started to grow, the village had a busy social, cultural and political existence. It had a excessive quantity of victims in World War II. By the late twentieth century, Vecses became a town of character man or woman and as such was increased from village to metropolis on 1 July 2001.
