About Szikszo
Szikszo is a small metropolis in Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen county, Northern Hungary, 15 kilometres from county capital Miskolc. Szikszo turned into first cited in files in 1280. It belonged to the estate of the Aba extended family. After 1370 Aba Estates within the location have become the property of King Sigismund and then of Queen Mary. At this time Szikszo became already a royal city. The Gothic church of the metropolis become additionally constructed around this time. In the 16th century Szikszo and its landowners converted to the Protestant religion and its church became a Protestant one.
During the Ottoman profession of Hungary the town became ransacked and burnt down numerous instances. The citizens fortified the strongest constructing of the city, the church. Several battles of the Ottoman–Habsburg wars were fought in and around the town. In 1588 there has been a war near the metropolis, in which the Hungarian army defeated the Turks. In 1679 the metropolis witnessed every other conflict, this time towards the imperial military of the Habsburgs; this warfare too delivered Hungarian victory however the imperials burnt down the metropolis as revenge.
