About Kalocsa
Kalocsa is a metropolis in Bacs-Kiskun county, Hungary. It lies 142 km south of Budapest. It is situated in a marshy but particularly effective district, close to the left financial institution of the Danube River. Historically it had extra political and economic importance than at present. The Baroque provincial metropolis within the Great Plain lies approximately 118 km south of Budapest on the east facet of the Danube.
The city is sort of as antique as the Hungarian state itself. After the Conquest, the tribe of Prince Arpad settled down right here. Later, at the side of Esztergom, Kalocsa become an archdiocese founded by means of King Stephen inside the early years of the Hungarian country. The first archbishop of the town become Asztrik, who introduced the crown to Stephen from the Pope. In the first decade of the 11th century, the primary church became constructed. In the Middle Ages history of Hungary, some generals served as archbishops. For instance, Ugrin Csak was the leader against the Tartars on the battle of Mohi 11 April 1241.
