About Gyula
Gyula is a city in Bekes County, Hungary. The city is exceptional known for its Medieval fort and a thermal bath. Ferenc Erkel, the composer of the Hungarian countrywide anthem, and Albrecht Dürer the Elder, the father of Albrecht Dürer, also have been born in Gyula. The first recorded connection with Gyula was in a file dated 1313 which mentions a monastery known as Gyulamonostora. By 1332 the settlement around the monastery become referred to as Gyula.
The production of Gyula Castle started within the 14th century but finished most effective inside the mid-16th century. It was the belongings of the Marothy family and later John Corvinus, the illegitimate son of Matthias Corvinus. Turks conquered Gyula in 1566 and the metropolis remained a part of the Ottoman Empire till liberated by Christian troops in 1694. Due to the wars, most of the native Hungarian population fled from Gyula and Bekes County became near uninhabited. The landowner János Harruckern invited German, Hungarian, and Romanian settlers, who re-established the city inside the early 18th century. Gyula became a famous traveler vacation spot within the 20th century. The thermal bath turned into set up in 1942 and improved in 1959, and the fort become restored in 1962.
