About Festetics Palace

The Festetics Palace is a Baroque palace located within the metropolis of Keszthely, Zala, Hungary. The building now homes the Helikon Palace Museum. The palace's production, started out through Kristof Festetics in 1745, lasted more than a century. During this time, the palace, built in the beginning at the foundations of a ruined fortress, was tripled in length in next constructing campaigns, most recently inside the Eighties, to designs by way of Viktor Rumpelmayer, residing in Vienna.

When Rumpelmayer died in 1885, the paintings become carried to crowning glory by way of architects Gusztáv Haas and Miksa Paschkisch. The end result is one of the three largest united states houses in Hungary. The Counts Festetics were revolutionary landowners: Kristof Festetics based a clinic, Pal Festetics hooked up a faculty within the city, and in 1797, Count Gyorgy Festetics opened an agricultural university, the Georgikon, the primary of its kind in Europe, which remains in operation as a college of the University of Pannonia.
