About Dark Gate
The Dark Gate is a tunnel placed below the artificial slopes of Castle Hill close to St. Adalbert's Basilica in Esztergom, Hungary. The Dark Gate at night time, the tunnel is 90 meters lengthy and follows the road of the castle's former eastern partitions. The complete tunnel is vaulted and built in Neo-classical style. Construction of the Dark Gate began in 1824 with the aid of Alexander Rudnay, Archbishop of Esztergom; years after the muse stones of St. Adalbert's Basilica had been laid.
