About Buk
Buk is a metropolis in Vas County, Hungary very close to the Austrian border. Nowadays it has a recognition for being a completely popular excursion destination in Hungary and one of the predominant spa and well-being spots in Central Europe. The village is first referred to in charters in 1271 with the name: Byk. The church become built in the 12th century, so the village is even older. In 1461 the call of the village is Poss. Vinchefalwa Byk. The name corresponds to the antique Vinczlofalva-Bik, that is now called Felso-Bukk. In the 15th century there were three Bik villages. The Buki Family became the landowner. Their descendants have been the Mankobuki Horvath, Mankobuki Balogh and the Felsobuki Nagy households.
Pal Felsobuki Nagy turned into a famous member of the Hungarian House of Representatives within the nineteenth century. Other awesome landowners had been the Counts Cseszneky who bought Alsobuk in the 16th century. The church changed into committed to the patrician of St Caliman, built inside the thirteenth century. Later restored in gothic style in 1408, and its tower changed into rebuilt in 1658. Between 1732 and 1757 the complete church building turned into renewed in baroque style. The murals are from this era. The virgin Mary Column is from the 18th century.
