Pelling is a small town in the west part of our beautiful Northeastern state of Sikkim. Pelling is known for its rich heritage, culture, and historical places in the entire town. Pelling has got some of the oldest Monasteries in Sikkim - Sanga Choeling Monastery, Sangachoeling Monastery, Khecheopalri Lake, Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdentse Ruins, Tashiding Monastery, Dubdi Monastery which has a lot of cultural influence on the people of Pelling and these are the prime attractions.I wanted to plan a holiday and was exploring some of the best places which are not very famous yet have a lot to offer to the visitors. I did a lot of research on the internet, asked my friends about it so got some names like Kasol, Kufri, Mcleodganj. I compared the destinations as per the variety and offerings. So search for the perfect next destination concluded with Pelling. There are multiple reasons behind it as this place is full of greenery and I like doing some adventure activities while going out on a trip being a fun-loving person so I shortlisted this small town. The first thing I did was to apply for a leave from my office for a week. Then I contacted one of the trusted travel agents to make the booking arrangements from flight to hotels and sightseeing. It was time to pack bags, I kept some warm clothes, DSLR is must when you are traveling, trekking shoes, trekking gear, backpack, some basic medicines, my ID proof for showing in the hotel and airport and travel guide for Pelling.
Food is Pelling is inspired by the Buddhist culture, Nepalese, Tibetan, and native Sikkimese dishes. The taste of the native food would refresh you with the use of fresh vegetables, soupy texture, Rice being the integral part and main usage of non-vegetarian items. You will find that most of the restaurants are serving Non-veg types which not very common in other parts of the country. As the place gets tourists from all over the country with different fooding habits so you will find Veg Momo, Thukpa, Veg noodles, pau bhaji, chole bhature, and other north Indian dishes as well. Pelling a small town in the western region of the cultural State Sikkim which is based in the Northeastern part of the country. This town is surrounded by an abundance of natural habitat. The Monastery is 7 km up the hillside from the main town of Pelling and people need to do a trek of approx 4 km to reach this place. There are a lot of heartwarming waterfalls which completely takes away the soul of visitors like Rimbi Waterfall, Khangchendzonga waterfalls and many other waterfalls are there. You can explore the wildlife and admire the beauty and peace of the natural environment. At Rabdentse Bird Park, you will find a lot of unseen species of the charming birds, listen to the chirpy music. If you want to see the mammals then the best place would be the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Khangchendzonga National Park which is spread across 849 Km sq of area and covers around 25% area of the entire state. This park is famous for the Snow leopard, leopard, Golden cat, Jackal, and many more such astonishing wild creatures. Pelling has more than 4 popular monasteries which are also important tours spots that have a major impact on the culture of the place. The majority of the locals follow the Buddhism religion and this inspiration is quite visible in the dishes as well.
