About Patras Lighthous

Patras Lighthouse is the image of the Greek metropolis of Patras. It is situated on the seafront at the start of Trion Navarchon avenue, opposite of the temple of Saint Andrew. The first, timber, lighthouse of Patras turned into constructed within the dock of Agios Nikolaos in 1858 and was destroyed through hurricane in 1865. The antique stone lighthouse became built in its location in 1878. It covered a surface of 4-5 rectangular meters, even as its height turned into 17 meters.

It became demolished in 1972 in the period of the military junta at some point of the port's modernization. In 1999 the coastal region council determined to rebuild the lighthouse in a southern location close to Saint Andrew's cathedral. The reconstructed Patras lighthouse does not have a maritime usage but is one of the city's symbols and principal points of interest. In the floor stage there is a restaurant – bar - eating place, whilst in the surrounding place there's a seashore park, as well as free parking space.
