About Archaeological Museum of Kavala
The Archaeological Museum of Kavala is a museum in Kavala, East Macedonia, Greece, located towards the western stop of the Ethnikis Antistasis avenue in Kavala. The museum was installed in 1934, and reopened in 1964 in its modern premises. Τhe museum because it stands nowadays became built through the architects D. Fatouros and G. Triantaphyllides, professors of the Polytechnic School and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki among 1963 and 1964.
The museum has been referred to as the maximum important archaeological museum in Eastern Macedonia and one of the most crucial museums in Greece. The museum contains prehistoric artifacts observed everywhere in the Kavala local unit together with in Neapolis vintage Kavala, Amphipolis and locations including Oisyme, Galypsos, Dikili Tas, Tragilos, Mesembria, Nikisiani and Avdira.
Floor ground of the museum are artifacts from historic Amphipolis along with a marble bust of a lady 4th century BC, a marble grave stela of an ephebe fifth century BC, a big gold finger ring and a gold olive wreath that were discovered in Macedonian Tomb. The museum is open weekdays from 8:00 to 19:00 and weekends from 8:00 to 14:30 in the summer, however throughout weekdays in the iciness, it closes at 17:00. The museum is closed on Mondays.
