St Michaels Parish Church
About St Michaels Parish Church
St. Michael's Parish Church is one of the biggest burgh holy places in the Church of Scotland. It is one of two wards serving the West Lothian district town of Linlithgow, the other being St. Ninian's Craigmailen. St Michael is the town's benefactor holy person; the town's proverb is "St Michael is kinde to outsiders". Ruler David I of Scotland allowed a sanction for the foundation of the congregation in 1138. The congregation was based on the site of a more seasoned church and was sanctified in 1242.
Following a fire in 1424, the greater part of the present building dates from the mid 15th century, with broad reclamations in the 19th century. Parts of the Church of St Michael were brought into utilization as they were finished, and the congregation was finished in 1540. Manufactured quickly toward the south of Linlithgow Palace, the congregation was abundantly supported as a position of love by Scottish Kings and Queens. Mary, Queen of Scots, was conceived in Linlithgow Palace on 8 December 1542 and was sanctified through water in St Michael's Church.
