Llandudno Pier Pavilion Theatre
About Llandudno Pier Pavilion Theatre
Llandudno Pier Pavilion Theatre turned into a Victorian seaside theatre inside the holiday hotel of Llandudno in North Wales, UK. The Directors of the Llandudno Pier Company had efficiently opened the brand new pier in 1878 and have been now seeking to expand their enterprise to take benefit of Llandudno's developing reputation as a beach inn. The existing sundeck pavilion at the end of the pier was proving inadequate to deal with the call for for musical recitals, so the choice was taken to construct a larger and better pavilion close to the prom entrance to the pier extension then underneath production.
Work started out in 1881 and the plans called for a 2,000-seat 3-storey structure, to be constructed inside the commonly flamboyant Victorian style, entire with a beautifully distinctive cast-iron veranda, jogging the length of the whole seaward facet of the building. The pavilion turned into unusual in that it had two major entrances, the primary from the pier entering at Stall level and the another on Happy Valley Road, which emerged onto the Balcony. More strangely, the pavilion basement housed what changed into then the most important indoor swimming pool in Britain. Unfortunately for the pier organization, problems with water pleasant supposed that this novel idea did no longer prove a hit, and the pool become filled in shortly afterwards.
