About Festiniog Railway

The Festiniog Railway is a 1 ft 11 1⁄2 in 597 mm slender check legacy railroad, situated in Gwynedd, Wales. It is a noteworthy vacation spot found for the most part inside the Snowdonia National Park. The railroad is around 13 1⁄2 miles 21.7 km long and keeps running from the harbor at Porthmadog to the slate mining town of Blaenau Festiniog, going through forested and sloping view. The line is single track all through with four middle of the road passing spots.

The primary mile of the line out of Porthmadog keeps running on a bank privately called the Cob, or in other words of the Traeth Mawr "polder". The Festiniog Railway Company which possesses the railroad is the most seasoned surviving rail route organization on the planet. It likewise possesses the Welsh Highland Railway which was re-opened completely in 2011. The two railroads share a similar track check and meet at Porthmadog station, with a few trains working the whole 40 mile course from Blaenau Festiniog to Caernarfon.

The railroad organization is appropriately known as the "Festiniog Railway Company" as this generally old spelling with F instead of Ff is in the official title of the organization in the Act that made the railroad. It is the most established surviving railroad organization on the planet, having been established by the Act of Parliament on 23 May 1832 with capital for the most part brought up in Dublin by Henry Archer, the organization's first secretary and overseeing executive.
