About Falls of Clyde
The Falls of Clyde is the collective name of four linn on the River Clyde close New Lanark, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The Falls of Clyde contain the upper falls of Bonnington Linn, Corra Linn, Dundaff Linn, and the lower falls of Stonebyres Linn. Corra Linn is the most astounding, with a fall of 84 feet. Bonnington Linn, Corra Linn and Dundaff Linn are above New Lanark and situated inside the Falls of Clyde Reserve overseen by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, a national nature protection philanthropy. Stonebyres Linn is found a few miles downstream from the save and New Lanark.
The territory has for quite some time been a prominent goal for guests. The Wordsworths, Coleridge and Sir Walter Scott all visited the Falls. In 1802, William Wordsworth deified Corra Linn, the biggest of the cascades, in stanza. Corra Linn has likewise been painted by ious craftsmen, including J. M. W. Turner. The name originates from the Gaelic 'currach', a damp place. A legend gives 'Cora' as a little girl of King Malcolm II, who jumped to her demise here while endeavoring to escape envisioned risk.
