About Dunollie Castle
Dunollie Castle is a little demolished stronghold situated on a slope north of the town of Oban, on the west shoreline of Scotland in Argyll. The site appreciates sees over towards the island of Kerrera and a perspective of the town, harbor, and remote isles. The manor is available to the general population as a major aspect of the Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds. There was a fortress on this high projection in the Early Middle Ages, when Dunollie was the imperial focal point of the Cenel Loairn inside the kingdom of Dal Riata.
Unearthings in the 1970s propose this mid stronghold was relinquished some time in the tenth century. The region around Dunollie accordingly turned out to be a piece of the semi-free Kingdom of the Isles, administered over by Somerled in the twelfth century. On his demise the MacDougalls moved toward becoming Lords of Lorne. Dougall, Somerled's child, held the greater part of Argyll and furthermore the islands of Mull, Lismore, Jura, Tiree, Coll and numerous others in the twelfth century.
