Dalzell House
About Dalzell House
Dalzell House is a historic house in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is situated toward the south of the town, on the north bank of the River Clyde. At its center is a 15th century tower house, with broad increases worked amid the 17th and 19th century. During the 1980s the house was re-established and partitioned available to be purchased as 18 private condos, while the encompassing Dalzell home is currently claimed by North Lanarkshire Council. The house is ensured as a Category A recorded building, and the grounds are recorded on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.
The 15th or mid 16th century tower house was worked by the Dalzell family, who procured these grounds in the 13th century. Thomas de Dalzell battled at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Sir Robert Dalzell relinquished the grounds in around 1342, for dwelling in England without the King's consent, but they were re-established through marriage in the 15th century. Another Sir Robert Dalzell was made Lord Dalzell in 1628, and his child was additionally hoisted as Earl of Carnwath in 1639.
