The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal Welsh: Camlas Sir Fynwy a Brycheiniog is a small community of canals in South Wales. For maximum of its currently 2018 navigable 56 km period it runs via the Brecon Beacons National Park, and its gift rural individual and tranquillity belies its unique purpose as an commercial corridor for coal and iron, which were brought to the canal through a network of tramways and/or railroads, many of which had been constructed and owned by the canal agency.
The "Mon and Brec" turned into firstly two unbiased canals – the Monmouthshire Canal from Newport to Pontymoile Basin including the Crumlin Arm and the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal strolling from Pontymoile to Brecon. Both canals have been deserted in 1962, however the Brecknock and Abergavenny route and a small phase of the Monmouthshire route were reopened due to the fact that 1970. Much of the rest of the original Monmouthshire Canal is the situation of a restoration plan, which incorporates the construction of a brand new marina at the Newport end of the canal.
