About Balgonie Castle
Balgonie Castle is situated on the south bank of the River Leven close Milton of Balgonie, 3.5 kilometers 2.2 mi east of Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland. The palace keep dates from the 14th century, and the rest of the structures were included piecemeal until the 18th century. The keep has been as of late reestablished, albeit different parts of the stronghold are roofless vestiges. Balgonie, aside from the pinnacle which is utilized for private reasons for existing, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The terrains of Balgonie were held by the Sibbalds from no less than 1246.
Likely in the 1360s, the Sibbalds manufactured a barmkin, or strengthened yard, with a pinnacle house at the north-west corner. The terrains and the mansion were left to a little girl, who wedded Sir Robert Lundie, who expanded the stronghold in 1496, after his arrangement as Lord High Treasurer of Scotland. Sir Robert fabricated a two-story scope of structures toward the east of the continue, developing the convenience with a long lobby and a sun based. This range consolidated a before corner tower and the fourteenth century church. Ruler James IV visited Balgonie on 20 August 1496, and gave 18 shillings to the bricklayers as a gift.
