Tettnang Castle, also known as the Tettnang New Palace, is one of 3 castles in the German city of Tettnang. The other ones are Tettnang Old Palace and Torschloss close to Barenplatz. Tettnang Castle is owned via Staatliche Schlosser und Garten Baden-Wurttemberg. Originally, a citadel stood on the site of the current fort. From 1260 until 1780, the site become the house of the Counts of Montfort. The old fort changed into destroyed in 1633, all through the 30 Years' War. Count Anton III of Montfort sooner or later started rebuilding the fortress in 1712, hiring the architect Christoph Gessinger, a Benedictine friar from Isny, to draft designs for a new castle.
