Schleswig

Schleswig is a town in the northeastern piece of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the capital of the Kreis district Schleswig-Flensburg. It takes its name from the Schlei, a channel of the Baltic ocean toward the finish of which it sits, and vik or vig which signifies "inlet" in Old Norse and Danish. Schleswig or Slesvig along these lines signifies "sound of the Schlei".
