Ribnitz-Damgarten

Ribnitz-Damgarten is a metropolis in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, situated on Lake Ribnitz. Ribnitz-Damgarten is in the west of the district Vorpommern-Rugen. The border between the historical areas of Mecklenburg and Pomerania goes directly via the town; Damgarten is the jap and Pomeranian component, and Ribnitz is the western and Mecklenburgian element. The metropolis's name derives within the Slavic settlements Rybanis and Damgor, placed on contrary sides of the mouth of the Recknitz river. In historical times, the Recknitz fashioned the border between Mecklenburg and Pomerania.
