About Ratibor Castle Museum
The building of the Margraves of Brandenburg Anzac is one of the few properly preserved estates of the German Early Renaissance. Margrave Georg the God-fearing built this brilliant looking fortress from 1535 until 1538. Decision for the area became the abundance of game in the surrounding forests. He financed the new building via revenues that he raised in his Silesian principalities Ratibor and Open. Therefore, he called it Ratibor fortress on the Retzet River With the resignation of the last Margrave in 1791 Johann Philip Stieber offered the fort and set up a manufacturing of Leonean wires From 1858 till 1892 the district courtroom become in session inside the western constructing. At the turn of the 19 century. 20th century Wilhelm von Stieber hired famed artists to redecorate the indoors of the citadel inside the German and Italian Late Renaissance fashion.
Among those artists were Ferdinand Wagner, Rudolf von Seitz, Friedrich Wanderer and Conrad in Walther: Elaborate stucco in the staircase with marble, artistically designed wooden panels in the fireside room, conservatory and dining corridor and the stunning Prunksaal with ceiling artwork depicting historical myths and Goblin art work with scenes from the Odyssey. In 1942 the fortress became donated to the City of Roth. The Museum Castle Ratibor become established in the second ground. The former royal stables now residence of the public library as well as the city records. The tourist-records is also located at the japanese side of the citadel.
