About Park an der Ilm

The Park an der Ilm is a huge Landschafts park located in Weimar, Thuringia. It was made in the 18th century, impacted by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and has not been changed much, protecting a recreation center of the period. It frames some portion of the World Heritage Site "Traditional Weimar". The recreation center is situated on the two banks of the stream Ilm for 1.0 kilometer from the Schloss in the north to the suburb of Oberweimar in the south. The recreation center is a piece of an any longer scenic route along the waterway, including the recreation center of Schloss Belvedere in the north and the recreation center of Schloss Tiefurt.

The Worlitz park, which Goethe had visited consistently from 1776 and which filled in as the setting of his 1809 novel Die Wahlverwandtschaften, was a model. In the wake of planting uncommon trees from 1778, deliberate work started in 1785. Goethe's home and the contrary Roman House de are among numerous building highlights of the recreation center, including scaffolds and landmarks. The plan was done in 1823 with the Tempelherrenhaus.

A suspension connect was worked in 1833. From 1848 to 1852, court cultivator Eduard Petzold made perspectives to Goethe's greenery enclosure house and the Roman house. The recreation center contains important trees, for the most part nearby assortments, yet in addition some remote trees, particularly from North America. In 1993, 770 maples, 455 cinder trees, 381 linden, 291 chestnuts and 257 hornbeams were checked, with a normal age of 80 to 150 years at the time.
