About Naumburg Cathedral
Naumburg Cathedral located in Naumburg, Germany, is the former cathedral of the Bishopric of Naumburg Zeitz. The church building, most of which dates again to the thirteenth century, is a renowned landmark of the German overdue Romanesque and has been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018. The west choir with the famous donor portrait statues of the 12 cathedral founders and the Lettner, works of the Naumburg Master, is one of the most full size early Gothic monuments.
The church becomes erected with the relocation of the Episcopal See from Zeitz in 1028, subsequent to an antique parish church. Thus it's miles the proto cathedral of the previous Catholic Diocese of Naumburg Zeitz. With the Reformation, Naumburg and its cathedral became Protestant. Naumburg Cathedral stays a Protestant parish church to at the moment. The history of the town of Naumburg starts at the flip of the 19th and 10th centuries. Due to a loss of written documentation, information and genuine dates are unknown. However, it's far probably that Markgraf Ekkehard I of Meissen and the most powerful man at the eastern border of the Holy Roman Empire became the founder.
