About Mettmann
Mettmann is a town within the northern part of the Bergisches Land, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the executive centre of the district of Mettmann, Germany's maximum densely populated rural district. The metropolis lies east of Dusseldorf and west of Wuppertal. Located on the ancient alternate route "strata coloniensis" the Lotharingian hamlet of Medamana first seemed inside the constitution of the last Carolingian King, Louis the Child, 904 AD, as a consequence present "formally" for more than 1100 years. In 1363 Mettmann become one of eight administrative burghs within the Earldom of Berg and Julich.
Later the burgh became impartial at the hand of Counsellor to the Earl of Cleves and turned into allowed to build a wall and pick out a mayor. The capability to toll and tax allowed the burgh to expand in commerce and trade. In 1806 Mettmann became part of the Grand Duchy of Berg beneath the guideline of Napoleon's brother-in-law, Joachim Murat. During this time, Mettmann's burgomaster turned into called "Monsieur le Maire." Mettmann remained French for approximately 10 years and became a part of Prussia's Province of Julich-Cleves-Berg following Napoleon's defeat on the Battle of Leipzig in 1813. As the result of the Congress of Vienna, in 1822 it become adsorbed into the Prussian Rhine Province.
