About Marienkirche
At the eastern end of Westenhellweg is the most settled standing church in Dortmund's Innenstadt.
The Marienkirche is a blend of the Romanesque and Gothic outline.
It's most reliable territories were worked in the 1100s while the later Gothic parts are from the fourteenth century.
Grievously the Marienkirche was totally devastated in the Second World War, however not before its medieval craftsmanship had been ousted for security's purpose: The middle leading body of the Beswordtaltar from 1380 has a Gothic painting summoning the Swoon of Mary.
The Marienaltar at that point was made by the Dortmund painter Conrad von Soest in 1420, and notwithstanding the way that it was slashed down in 1720 to fit another Baroque reredos is so far a masterwork of International Gothic craftsmanship.
