About Marburg
Marburg is a university town in the German government state Bundesland of Hesse, capital of the Marburg-Biedenkopf region Landkreis. The town zone spreads along the valley of the waterway Lahn and has a populace of roughly 72,000. Having been granted town benefits in 1222, Marburg filled in as capital of the landgraviate of Hessen-Marburg amid times of the 15th to 17th century. The University of Marburg was established in 1527 and rules the open life in the town right up till the present time.
In the same way as other settlements, Marburg created at the junction of two significant early medieval interstates: the exchange course connecting Cologne and Prague and the exchange course from the North Sea to the Alps and on to Italy, the previous intersection the stream Lahn here. The settlement was ensured and traditions were raised by a little palace worked amid the 9th or 10th century by the Giso. Marburg has been a town since 1140, as demonstrated by coins. From the Gisos, it fell around that opportunity to the Landgraves of Thuringia, living on the Wartburg above Eisenach.
